Founded in 1925, the textile service company Welscher—a member of the nationwide DBL association—is now the leading provider of rental and workwear within a 150-km radius, operating from its location in Kassel-Waldau. A corporate culture developed over decades and shaped by several generations of the family made it necessary to construct a building in which technical and functional processes are directly linked to supporting office activities: cleaning, repair, storage/retrieval, and order picking, as well as repair services with pre- and post-sales customer support, are all located on two levels in close proximity to one another.
The concept of open, transparent architecture, in which interior and exterior spaces are in constant dialogue, consistently reflects the core principles of the Welscher corporate philosophy. The use of only a few materials—such as concrete, aluminum, and glass—as well as the application of simple yet carefully planned and work-ready details define the building’s character. A distinctive color scheme derived from the DBL Association’s corporate identity program adds emphasis and ensures the building complex’s uniqueness.
