Info

Following the demolition of two derelict historic storage barns, the “Age-Appropriate Housing” project created 24 residential units in the heart of Grebenstein’s town center. The building blends harmoniously into the historic core of Obere Schnurstraße.

A total of 24 apartments were created in the new building, divided into 16 two-person households and 8 single-occupancy apartments. The project complies with housing subsidy regulations. All apartments are barrier-free and equipped to accommodate seniors and wheelchair users. The elevator also serves as a bed lift. The bathrooms and kitchens are fully equipped; the kitchen units can be manually adjusted to meet the needs of wheelchair users. Each apartment has its own loggia.

The hallways are accessed via two stairwells. On each floor, a large common area offers a view of the old village church.

The new building features an underground parking garage with five parking spaces as well as an utility area in the basement. Integrating a vaulted cellar and working with the existing building site posed a particular challenge. The building is heated by a geothermal system. Peak loads and hot water production (over 40 °C) are additionally covered by a gas-fired boiler.
