The competition entry for the new Geismar Volunteer Fire Department conceives of the fire station as more than just a functional building: it is envisioned as a modern operations center and, at the same time, as a public space in the heart of the neighborhood. The new building, constructed using a hybrid wood construction method, combines clear workflows, high functionality, and sustainable materials with a strong urban presence.

Diverse outdoor spaces, the preservation of existing trees, and a publicly accessible rooftop garden with seating and a view create new opportunities for firefighters and the neighborhood to gather. Low-carbon construction methods, untreated wood facades, solar panels, a rainwater retention roof, rainwater harvesting, and a heat pump round out the concept, resulting in a resource-efficient and forward-looking fire station.
