GWG is planning the construction of a new fire and rescue station in Göttingen for the professional fire brigade and the Sartorius factory fire brigade, designed for 24-hour three-shift operation with around 180 employees.
The angular ensemble blends into the urban context with its clear, minimalist architectural language and makes the different functional areas logically legible. A glass joint connects the two buildings, marks the main entrance and creates a central meeting place.
The western orientation of the alarm courtyard reduces noise pollution for the neighbourhood, and an area for a possible control centre extension ensures future flexibility. In the elongated building, the vehicle halls are located on the ground floor, adjacent to storage and ancillary rooms as well as changing and sanitary areas. Short distances, compact structures and clear functional zoning ensure efficient processes. A mezzanine floor houses the administration, while the upper floor contains rest areas with associated sanitary and changing rooms. Inner courtyards ensure a high quality of stay and optimal lighting.
The new building is being constructed sustainably using a hybrid timber construction method and combines functional efficiency, urban presence and future-proof planning.
