We’ve won the VgV procedure!
New Construction of the Westwache in Göttingen.

Following a VgV procedure, our office was awarded the contract for the new construction of the Westwache in Göttingen. The client is the Gesellschaft für Wirtschaftsförderung und Stadtentwicklung Göttingen mbH (GWG).

The design is based on a sustainable hybrid timber construction and a clearly structured spatial concept. Two structures form an angular ensemble connected by a glass joint – which also serves as the main entrance and central meeting place. The functional layout of the building ensures short distances: the vehicle hall, changing rooms and administrative areas are located in the main building, while the front building houses workshops, seminar rooms and a roof terrace. The entire building is designed to be barrier-free.

In terms of design, the façade combines vertical timber cladding with red fibre cement panels. An extensively greened roof with a photovoltaic system, natural materials in the interior and acoustically optimised rooms underline the holistic sustainability approach.
To reduce the carbon footprint, the innovative ‘alcemy process’ is to be used for the concrete. Ecological quality is also a priority in the outdoor area – with rainwater management, a networked biotope system and near-natural compensation areas.
