The new building, serving as a defining landmark at the entrance to the town, provides the Igstadt Fire and Rescue Station with a forward-looking facility.

The C-shaped building complex encloses the large inner courtyard and shields activities and noise from the neighboring residential area. At the same time, it offers an unobstructed view of the landscape and defines the town entrance with a welcoming “face.”The dynamic floor plan arises from the existing site and strictly optimized functional workflows. The internal organization of the three separate user areas follows the logic of short distances and focuses on the response to emergencies.

Wood, as an unpretentious facade material with a naturally warm, friendly, and understated appearance, underscores the “service-oriented character” of a fire and rescue station. The building thrives on the interplay of exposed concrete and wood/glass surfaces, both inside and out. The interplay of raw and refined, coarse and fine creates a lively working and social atmosphere that does justice to the building’s functions.
